THE STAGE

Women’s Open Mic Comedy at Wee Johnny’s

Fresh off of a successful run of Fringe Fest shows with her sketch comedy troupe HUNKS, Dana Smith returns to Wee Johnny’s (177 McDermot Avenue) to host Women’s Open Mic Comedy. Anything can happen as seasoned vets and first-time stand up comics take the stage, kicking off at 8pm on Friday!

Alleyways Market in the Exchange      

After two magical markets in June and July, the August edition of Alleyways is here with a mix of new and returning vendors, bringing with them delicious eats and handcrafted goods. Whether you’re starting your evening in the Exchange by grabbing some snacks for a walk, or you’re on the hunt for some locally produced food to take home, the award-winning Alleyways Market is a First Fridays event not to be missed.

THE TOUR

First Fridays Art Talk/Art Walk

Join moderator Alison Gillmor for a discussion with artists Seema Goel and Jessica Hodgson and dinner at the Winnipeg Free Press News Cafe, followed by a guided walk through Exchange District galleries and studios. The evening kicks off at 6pm and is $20 to attend.

THE DISPLAY

First Fridays in the Exchange  

The first Friday of every month means the galleries, shops, restaurants and other businesses in the Exchange stay open late with special programming, music and refreshments. You can also check out special events, like Sarasvati Productions’ Season Launch at The Saddlery on Market, Design Quarter Winnipeg’s special First Fridays tour, and so much more.
