Manitoba music - amadians crop

It’s always interesting when a band can be so well established right from the get go, without trying a dozen genres before finding its sound. Amadians, made up of jazz vocalist and songwriter Courtney Devon, guitarist and songwriter James Roth, and percussionist Kyle Fox, defines its sound as alternative pop, but will also bring elements of jazz, hip hop, and rock to our lunchtime stage on August 23 as part of the free MB Live @ The Cube concert series, co-presented by Manitoba Music. Two years ago, Roth, having made music for over 15 years as a member of local rock act Pushing Daisies, was given the opportunity to perform with University of Manitoba Jazz student Devon for a fundraising …

Coal and Canary candles are both beautiful to see and to smell, and they’ve just opened up a shop in the Exchange District with the help of the PUSH program, an initiative from CentreVenture and the Manitoba government. …

Jérémie & The Delicious Hounds_FINAL

Having only been in the game a few years, Jéremie Brémault has already lit a few stages on fire and released a pair of EPs as the frontman of soul rock quintet Jéremie and the Delicious Hounds. The band, which equally brings to mind both Marvin Gaye and Led Zeppelin, is playing The Cube stage on August 16 as part of MB Live @ The Cube’s free lunchtime concert series, presented by the Exchange District BIZ and Manitoba Music. Brémault, who is the cousin of musicians Sarah and Christian Dugas, grew up with music all around him but only picked up his guitar to write actual songs in 2013. His inspiration? Traveling around Canada and seeing the sights while working …

Manitoba Music - Alpha1

Alpha Toshineza doesn’t just hear sounds, he sees them. It’s that visual type of creativity that makes his new LP, Jazz Inuit, such a vibrant listen. Mixing soul, pop rock and jazz with thoughtful rhymes, this Luxembourg transplant is taking his worldly yet distinctly Winnipeg sounds to Old Market Square on August 9 as part of the MB Live @ The Cube lunchtime concert series, co-presented by Manitoba Music and the Exchange District BIZ. “As an artist, especially today, you have to think about image, but to me it goes beyond the marketing aspect of it,” Toshineza says. “I would always write music to images. I see music and I hear images, I hear pictures.” Aside from music, Toshineza gets …
