The RWB’s storybook season begins with renowned choreographer Twyla Tharp’s The Princess & The Goblin. Adapted from the fairytale by Victorian novelist George MacDonald – whose work influenced the great fantasy writers J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis – the critically-acclaimed story ballet is a dazzling romp through a fantastical world where goblins reign and courageous children battle for good over evil.

Culture Days is a collaborative pan-Canadian volunteer movement to raise awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. The 8th annual Culture Days weekend is September 29, 30 and October 1, 2017 and will feature thousands of free, hands-on, interactive arts and cultural activities. Culture Days aims to foster appreciation and support of the artistic and cultural life that is lived, created and expressed across the country in urban centers and rural communities alike. Nuit Blanche Winnipeg (NBW) is a free all-night exploration and celebration of contemporary art that takes place on the Saturday of the Culture Days weekend from dusk to dawn. Held annually since 2010, the events and exhibits attract thousands of people to the three zones of activity: St. Boniface, Downtown and the Exchange District. The Exchange District BIZ is excited to host an interactive painting area from 7-10pm. The event, titled Paint In Numbers, allows Nuit Blanche attendees the chance to add a brush stroke or a fully formed idea to one of three canvases over the course of the evening (one hour per canvas). When the hour is up, the piece is complete, and we move onto a new blank canvas. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to work with different artist mentors on each piece. Each piece will have a distinct theme to work with, as well as various mediums. It’s a one-of-a-kind creation inspired by the magic of Nuit Blanche!
