A look back at Concert Movies at the Cube – Talking Heads Stop Making Sense

Here at the Exchange District BIZ we like to create programming and events that fit in the with Exchange District’s vibe and highlight its unique features. Last month we threw a party in Bijou Park – which for those of you who aren’t familiar is the cobblestone park directly adjacent to Old Market Square. If you’re a regular in the area you’ve probably walked through this quaint walkway many times and just didn’t know it had a name. Much like Alleyways in the Exchange where we draw attention to the unique alleyways in the area, we wanted to draw attention to Bijou Park and create an event that brought something a little different to the area – which brings us to Concert Movies at the Cube.

The idea was to project a movie version of a concert on an outdoor screen and create a genuine concert feel. We started with what is widely known as “the Greatest Concert Movie Ever” Talking Heads Stop Making Sense and had live local acts Yes We Mystic and DJs Hunnicutt and Co-op open for the big event.

It was a fantastic night with hundreds of people in attendance, enjoying the music, food trucks, and locally crafted beer courtesy of Little Brown Jug that we were serving up out of our shipping container bar.

Up next….on September 7th we’re doing it all again! This time featuring the acclaimed Beastie Boys concert movie Awesome; I Shot That! Come out and enjoy another great night in the Exchange. This is going to be quite the night with our last Alleyways in the Exchange of the season on, First Fridays Bike-In, and the classic arts event First Fridays in the Exchange all happening on the same night!
