Derek Bassey is a self-teaching, emerging artist, born and raised in Nigeria and now living in Canada.
His artwork explores identity, death, legacy, and love, and draws inspiration from visions, music lyrics, and his favorite photos.
Working primarily in oils on canvas, each brush stroke is both question and answer to the endless mysteries of life, self, and other.
Derek sees something of himself in everything he paints, welcoming all the dimensions of his identity.
7:15-9pm: Guided Art Walk to a selection of Exchange District Galleries and Studios
