Join us for our second annual BIKE for Main Street Project! Our goal is to raise $20,000 this year and we are hoping you can help! Bike for Main Street Project will be a DIY cycling challenge from August 10-September 10 with a community bike ride to wrap it all up, gather together, and celebrate your achievements on September 11th.
We are raising funds and awareness about the work we are doing as an organization to further embrace Truth and Reconciliation. The majority of the people we serve identify as Indigenous. To better serve our community we need to amend historical relationships with Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous organizations, create safe spaces for healing, integrate culturally appropriate perspectives, programming and staffing, and promote access to culturally appropriate resources.
Activities like transforming our physical spaces to be culturally safe, gathering medicines, hiring Elders and Knowledge Keepers to guide the good work about Indigenous knowledge, laws and teachings. Funds support ceremony, transporting folks to sweat lodge and pow wows, providing Skabes (helpers) in our shelter to listen with love, talk through teachings, bead, sing, drum, smudge, or just be present, are examples of what we’re doing.
We need culturally appropriate and meaningful healing in all our spaces, and we have embarked on a sincere path to make it happen. Register today and help us on the path to Truth and Reconciliation.
