Artist Bio – Becca Heide
Becca’s art takes form in primarily abstract acrylic paintings as an expression of emotion. Becca is a self taught artist, beginning her artistry while volunteering at the Cre8ery. Her first exhibition ‘Better than Yesterday’ was held at the Cre8ery in 2015 and was an exhibition focused on personal growth, while her current exhibition ‘Blue’ is a more in-depth study of personal emotions captured while painting. Becca believes that every piece of art should be an emotional experience and often finds herself using anything except a paint brush as she finds it helps her feel more connected to her art works.
Artist Statement
Blue – Blue for a long time now has been a primary theme in my life. Blue makes up the majority of my wardrobe, its my favourite colour to paint with, and most of all I’ve been feeling blue. In this exhibition I have used my paintings as a conduit for my feelings, shades and styles changing at a moment’s notice like a rolling wave. Some pieces are dark and brooding, others are light and carefree while some are an indiscernible mix of light and dark, cold and warm. The creation of these pieces has taught me that sometimes even the darkest feelings can become something beautiful.
I know I’ve been feeling blue, maybe you have been too?
