Second Story Window is an expression of my story and the stories around me. The second story is where the great or grim realities of experience metaphorically reside. It is visible, however, making our way to the second story is often by invitation only – a place reserved. We see the light at night with curtains drawn or undrawn and may catch a glimpse. When we are privileged to join in the view from the inside of the second story window, we see the world in a whole new way.
And so the stories go; we are surrounded by stories. Some are loud and personal. Others quiet and unfamiliar. Second story – Story Window. Whichever way, we are connected through our stories.
Noella Hanan is a potter, teacher and studio artist living on 100 acres of prairie and bush with her husband outside of Anola, Manitoba. She has three grown children who are all artists in their own right. Noella has a Bachelor of Art with a Fine Arts major from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Manitoba. She has been a potter for more than 25 years and has taught Art in various schools in Manitoba, currently teaching in the Sunrise School Division. She loves nature and gardening and dabbles in a variety of art mediums. She enjoys the challenge of making art with meaning.
