Title: These Tiny Helpers Artist: Dee Barsy Dates: September 6 to October 26, 2019 Opening reception: September 6 at 8-11pm (open for viewing earlier for First Friday at 5pm) Statement For this solo exhibition, Dee has transformed the gallery space into an immersive mural that features her unique visual language. This language is distinguished by her iconic blue background, her bright and contrasting colour palette, and her rhythmic lines and shapes. For this site-specific artwork, Dee has created abstract representations of various arachnids and insects that are native to the Manitoba area. Travel behind the scenes at a Friday morning matinee with an open rehearsal and concert performance. Hear the conductor’s introduction the music, a complete performance of the work, and participate in a Q+A – All in one hour! Johannes Brahms was one of the pillars of classical symphonic composers: the third of the famous “three B’s,” after J.S. Bach and Beethoven. Brahms’ First Symphony is an epic journey; a real story-in-music from dark to light, rich with memorable melody orchestras everywhere love to perform.

Few great works of music have taken so long to get to a finished product as Brahms’s Symphony No. 1. It took 21 years from sketches to finishing touches, and certified his name alongside Bach and Beethoven as one of the legendary “three B’s” of classical music. Rounding out the evening is Korngold’s Violin Concerto, his best-loved concert piece.
