Join us for a 45 minute documentary film that explores the artistry of timeless hand woven rugs and textiles, and the lives of the women in nomadic tribal families who wove them in central and west Asia. Woven with the wool of their own sheep, and full of symbols of life and the nature that surrounds the tribes, these carpets are all one of a kind and are significant works of art as well as being functional pieces.
The peoples of the Qashqai tribe no longer live nomadically, with rugs woven for their families with their heart and soul – as they have for centuries past – so the art of tribal rug weaving is being lost.
Film screening at 7:30 p.m.
Refreshments will be offered.
